Heat & Sun Ritual
Heat & Sun Ritual
Cold Brew
Bold, smooth, and made for the long day ahead.
In the Texas Hill Country, the sun comes up fast and the day warms quickly. By mid-morning, you want something cold in your hand — something that tastes like premium coffee, not a compromise. A large mason jar. A spot of cream. Ice. That’s the Heat & Sun ritual. Sipped slowly, all day long — at the ballpark, poolside, or anywhere the sun finds you.
The Practice
The Mason Jar Method
Every morning after the hot cup, the mason jar comes out of the fridge. Cold brew concentrate over ice, a spot of cream, and you’re set for the day. Into an insulated cup for the baseball game. A big trenti-style glass for the pool. A quiet sip on the back porch while the day heats up.
“I keep a large mason jar in my fridge every day. After my morning hot joe, this is what I reach for. It’s what tastes best here in the South.”
Premium coffee. Slow-steeped. Smooth enough to sip all afternoon without bitterness. That’s what cold brew from 49° North is built for.
Brew Guide — The Mason Jar Method
Grind: Coarse — like raw sugar
Ratio: 1 cup coffee · 4 cups cold filtered water
Steep: 16–24 hours in the fridge (longer = stronger)
Strain: Through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
Serve: Over ice · A spot of cream · No rush
Store: Keeps in the mason jar up to 2 weeks in the fridge
Serve It Your Way
The Heat & Sun Lineup
Cold brew is the most versatile ritual we make. Here’s how we serve it — and how you can make it yours.
Classic — The Daily Mason Jar
Cold brew over ice in a large mason jar. A spot of cream. Sipped slowly all morning and into the afternoon. The everyday ritual.
On the Go — Insulated Cup
Pour your mason jar cold brew into an insulated tumbler and take it to the ballpark, the pool, or wherever the day takes you. Stays cold for hours. Tastes like premium coffee the whole way through.
The Trenti — Big Glass, Full Day
A large trenti-style glass packed with ice, cold brew, and your add-in of choice. The poolside version. The summer afternoon version. The one you refill.

“Fill the jar. Steep overnight. Wake up to something worth sipping all day.”
Brazil Santos · Medium-Dark Roast

Brazil Santos — naturally low acid, bold with a touch of sweetness, and smooth enough to sip cold all afternoon without bitterness. 1431 is the single-origin pick for those who want a cold brew that tastes like something, not just caffeine. Exceptional over ice with a spot of cream.
Best for: Cold brew · Iced pour over · Concentrate
“1431 is TX Ranch-to-Market Road 1431 — the road that winds out of the Texas Hill Country toward Austin. It’s the only road out. Infamous for traffic, long drives, and the kind of patience that only a cold cup of something bold and smooth can help with.”
“You’re on RM 1431. The sun is up. The road is long. Good thing the mason jar is full.”
